After hearing a lot of the replys already posted myself, I've finally have one I can share!

Last week, while reading the USA Today in the hotel dining room, I chuckled when I saw the line in a Canon ad that said, "White is cool!" or something to that effect. It was above a full size pic of a Canon 600mm L lens.

My wife looked over, saw what I was chuckling at, leaned in to me and wispered, "Honey, you're big enough!". I almost did a spit-take and laughed out loud getting the attention of everyone!

That was the best line I've heard in a long time!

Tony...

Hi from a new JUNIOR member. I purchased a 20D a couple of years ago. It was my first DSLR after graduating from a P & S. I guess I embarrassed myself more than anyone else could have. I was at a concert and had a 70-200L attached. One of the lead singers walked by and posed for a pic with my wife. Of course, I panicked and went back into P&S mode. Held the camera at arms length and then hesitated when I couldn't see the shot on my LCD. I quickly regained my composure and got the shot, but I felt like an idiot the rest of the day... I don't know if the singer caught the error, but his smile sure sounded like a comment to me... :o

lol, i did that many a times when i first got my dslr.
to be honest i think everyone moving from P & S to DSLR have did that at least once.
agreed?

Actually, I was just the opposite. I could never quite remember, on a consistent basis, that the LCD viewer was there. I'd guess that I shot more than 90% of the pictures using my Pro1 looking through the viewfinder.

Same here, normally if / when someone would ask me to take a pic with their P&S, I instinctively look through the viewfinder.

I didn't, but that was because I seldom if ever used the LCD on my P&S. The problem was, I had such primitive P&S that using the LCD to frame shots was nigh impossible in daylight and it sucked so much battery I always resorted to using the optical viewfinder. So I was already used to it.. but for different reasons ;)

On the other hand, you should watch me flip the Rebel 1000F down, expecting to see the LCD after a shot and getting nothing but the film back and the note holder with the film box lid   :D

I do that with my A-1 when I am playing with both cameras, and sometimes when I only have the A-1 with me.

My fiance was remarking the other day how hard it is to use an LCD (after someone asked her to take their picture) and I reminded her that it was only a few months ago she was trying to get used to looking through the lens. ;)

I too was lucky enough that my moms Kodak had a view find so I just made it a habit.

Amen-- when someone hands me a point and shoot to take pictures with, I screw up the timing really badly because of the lag, so I wind up with people's backs, going out of frame, etc. I feel kinda dumb when I hand the camera back with such deficent images :(.

Q: Are you Paparazzi?

A: No. I only stalk ex girlfriends, not celebrities.

I've had people see me with the camera just walking to where I want to shoot, with the lens pointed downward my hands off and the camera , and tell me "no pictures, please". I told one girl "don't worry I only shoot hot chicks".

One guy told me to stop taking pictures. No reason, just stop. I was shooting structures and not people but he didn't even know that much. He just didn't want me there on the public sidewalk. I told him to disappear or I'd have the cops explain to him that I didn't need his permission to be there. He didn't like it but he left me alone.

Cameras are like police lights on the highway. People see em' and their IQ drops by about 50 points.

Geez, I don't think I'd have the guts to say that. Color me impressed.

I dunno, that seems like an awful thing to say to someone just asking an innocent question. If they were being very rude or whatever i could understand a retort like that, but if someone just curiously asked me, i wouldnt go as far as practically insulting someone

I think you mis-read his post and the remark he was responding to.
