Hi,

I just shot my firast senior portrait.

I was wondering if anyone could me some advice on pricing and packages. I use bay photo lab and are pretty happy with them. I would also appreciate any advice on how to get more seniors in.

Thanks Ruby Rieke

You did a pretty good job for your first time. Liked all the pictures. I think you should pose your question in the "Cornering the Pros" forum.

Ruby, You did a great job with the poses, and the pictures look nice. I have been asked to call a parent interested in HS Senior pictures. I put it off all week because I am nervous. I am not comfortable with my skill sets yet. How are you getting such sharpnes in the picture. What ISO, shutter speed and fstop are you using for these shots? Is there a special lens you use for these pictures? The colors really show well, are you doing a lot of PS? What kind of lighting did you use (fill flash/reflector)? Thanks Mike

Those look good. A few have backgrounds that I find distracting and some of the poses are a little repititios, but overall, I think you did an excellent job. Nice lighting, nice color and very crisp.

I think they look really good.
A bit of advice don't give the parents all the pics to choose from only pick out the best clearest pics without a distracting background to show them.

A good thing to consider on pricing is triple what your cost is on them put together a package from there.By tripling the cost you will cover your shipping cost etc.
For example:
A copy of the Proofs.
3- 8 x 10s
5- 5 x 7s
30 or more wallets this depends if they are including pics in their graduation invitations so they could need much more.

Seniors want pics to share with friends so they like the wallets, mom and dad want pics to share with family and for themselves so they pic the bigger pics.

The best way to get the senior pics is word of mouth from the one you have done another way would be to give this senior some business cards to give to her friends.

other than #3 in that gallary, they look great... the expression in 3 is something you might want to stay away from next time..

Pricing depends a lot on what other photographers in your area charge. Here is my price list -- I don't do packages.

My average order is between $200-300.
