Hi all,
Just a quickie!
Can anyone please tell me the Canon Serial number of the lens hood that belongs to this wonderful lens, as I wish to purchase one and any links to a pic of the said item.

There seems to be a lack of info on this or maybe I am looking in the wrong places.

Cheers

It takes the ES65 lens hood.

But I do not think it is made any longer - the TS-E 90mm takes an ES-65/3 but this would probably vignette badly on a 50mm lens.

The mark I 50mm has a 58mm filter thread so probably the best thing to do if you can't find a used hood is to get a generic rubber hood that fits a 58mm filter thread.

I am sitting here with the lens in front of me and it has a 52mm filter on it. Am I mistaken with the lens as something else and not the Mk1?

It originally came with a Canon 620.

Ooops! Yes, you are right, it is a 52mm , like the mark II

I guess that means there is no relationship with the hood for the 90mm TS-E

I checked, I can't find any evidence that you can still buy a new ES65 hood, so unless you can find one used, you will probably have to go for a rubber one.

I own an EF 50f/1.8 MkI and I use my EF 85 f/1.8's hood (ET-65 III). It actually fits and doesn't vignette on my 1D MkI. Check this posting:

https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=188177

This is where I learned that this hood fits. Though I own both lenses, I never thought to try the hood off of my 85mm. It fits and does the job.

Guys,
many thanks for your postings/answers as it has solved the problem and I now will start the search for that little Hoodie ET-65III. He better watch out as I am coming to get him!

Cheers again!
