Two weeks ago I was at the Napa Quebec GP of Karting. It was such a great weekend and I got some great shots. But none are better than the crashes I captured. The way the temporary track was made had very little room in turn 1 and leading up to it was the longest straight. There was a total of 5 flips and more crashes than I can count. I selected the three most spectacular to show you. Just click on the links to see the hole sequence.

Crash1:
Not much to say about this other than OUCH!

Crash 2:
Wiplash!!! After taking a blow like this he actually kept driving and finished the race.

Crash 3:
Ok this is a bad one. This young lad not only gets crushed into the tires but takes two hits from both the number 62 and number 10.

I agree. It's really dangerous for the younger kids. I had a hard time shooting the aftermath of the last one as the kid was crying and screaming. I can't even imagin how the parents must feel when they see that. But it's like that in all levels of racing. Not the safest sport.

Kids, this is what happens when you don't wear a seatbelt.

And are trying for the same line as 20 other adrenaline charged teenagers at 70kph into a hairpin.

Nasty crashes there!
The worst I've been through is front flipping into a cactus, but I was never against the pavement.
Great captures as well!

Great sequence. I always stand there with my camera by my side thinking "oh, my gosh" instead of snapping the shots. Good job of catching the action. Hope the kid is ok.

Since the karts weigh so little and offer so little protection you want to fly out rather stay in. My 3rd daughter spent 4 months in a cast when her foot became caught in the pedal and she stayed with her kart when it flipped.
