I've had my Opteka Battery Grip for the Rebel XT for about half a year now. Recently, I've noticed that "sometimes" I will go to the camera and the batteries will be wiped out. I've tried re-seating the grip, removing the batteries and re-installing and removing the grip and trying the batteries with just the camera to see if was not the batteries. Has anyone else had experience with significant battery drain? Have we come to any conclusions on whether one must turn the grip switch off to preserve the batteries?

I've noticed the same thing with mine. I'm wondering the same thing, turn the grip off?

I leave mine on all the time and have never noticed that. I dont think the grip should use anymore power than the battery just sitting in the camera. I actually just shot a wedding this weekend and got over 630 shots before I had to change batteries.

With the AA batteries that come with it if you order from 47th street Photo. How long does it take everyone to charge those batteries with the charger that came with?
