Has anyone tried this? I have a friend who is using it and love it.

I tried it (was free with my 20D) but I now use other RAW conversion software. However, it does what it has to. It's just not professional enough for most photographers needs.

I use it for doing batch conversions of RAW to JPEG but otherwise I use Adobe Camera RAW and CS2 for my editing.

I must not be most professional photographers.

I like DPP for what I do, but I will admit that by itself it needs some work.
What it is good for is going through photos quickly doing minor editing and correction and then either converting to another format or quick printing.

What it is not good for is significant photo editing. For that I use PS CS2.

But DPP will do 95% of what I need and the last 5% can be shifted to PS CS2 either starting with the raw or after conversion to TIF. It is also way faster to use then PS CS2 is on my PC.

There's plenty to like about DPP. The main reason I use RSP instead is because I can straighten and crop before converting, saving me a step in the workflow (With DPP you can crop but not straighten). RSP's straightening tool is the easiest to use among several that I have tried.

With the impending demise of RSP, I sure hope Adobe Lightroom lets me straighten and crop, or I'm screwed.
