monopod id required

ok went on holiday and spied this monopod in a second hand shop(well you gotta hunt around whilst the wife n kids are in clothes shops!). well the price seemed cheap (£10.00..approx $18.00. so i treated myself). its extremely sturdy(and weighty,)
So does anyone have a clue what type of monood it is and also what the bracket is for (arrowed?) maybe a spirit level or something.

Looks like it might have been home-made, or at least home-modified. If pressed, I'd guess that secondary bracket is for holding a second bracing leg for bipod functionaity.

My guess would be it's for holding a cable release. As to the monopod: Maybe an old manfrotto?

thanks for the replies guys..certainly doesnt seem 'homemade' it obviously old..very heavy and sturdy..i see what you mean by the cable release , especially yhe older mechanical types of release

If it doesn't have a brand name on it,. I doubt it's a Manfrotto - they label everything they make....

And, it looks like it may be for the very common mechanical plunger type cable release used on hundreds (thousands ?? ) of different camera versions. I suspect is is not a homebrew revision, but that the monopod came that way from the factory.

This would allow you to hold the camera/monopod and fire the shutter with the same hand. And, focus the lens with the other.

Very handy for a camera with a manual focus lens.

What's stamped into the clamp handles? You don't have a close-up photo of those. Looks like a name logo to me.
