I think CS2 noise reduction is pretty effective. Haven't mastered it yet, but the few times I have, it worked ok.
I'm on the fence though, because I have seen some fixes done with the neat image and Noise Ninja.
Do you think CS2's noise reduction is enough, or do I have to invest in something better?

UI would LOOOOOVE to see some examples of what noise ninja did for you(comapering to CS2)

I don't have any examples to show but the noise reduction in CS2 does nothing for me compared to Noise Ninja, espicially if you download the profiles for each camera. I don't use it that much but when I do it works great. I originally used it because my indoor shots were taken at ISO800 or even ISO1600. I use my flash more often now and usually with ISO400 so I don't require it as much.

Take a look at this thread:

My picture was process using CS2 noise reduction. At the sharpening step, I could not sharpen more without amplifying noise.

Then, look at Lotto's picture (especially the instrument panel) using Noise Ninja. See how sharp and noiseless it is?

Noise Ninja for me... been using it for a long time with my PhotoShop 7. NN can work standalone or as a plugin inside PS.

BTW, BibbleLabs has a built-in small NN engine. But if it detects you're a registered user of a full version of NN, it will use that and show more controls and options in BibbleLabs.
