Dear Forum members

Maybe you can help me with this problem.
I'm trying to upgrade my Pro-90 firmware from 1.0.0.2 to 1.0.0.3.
a. I successfully downloaded the files from the Canon digital camera wen site.
b. I formatted the CF card in the camera (the 16MB CF card which came with the camera)
c. I set the main camera dial at the arrow (connect to computer). The USB cord was connected and working.
d. I then double-clicked on "uploadfirmware.exe". The program starts running, goes through the first three wizard windows, then starts uploading; the blue scale doesn't start going, and then the program quits without any messages. The DC97 folder didn't get copied

Your help and suggestions will be appreciated

Thanks in advance

I've read of some people who run Windows 2000 having trouble doing the update the way you describe. What operating system are you using? Did you indeed follow the exact instructions from Canon?

Do you have a CF card reader/writer? Either an external USB/Firewire unit, or even a PCMCIA card reader if you are using a notebook. I've found the PCMCIA adapter to be the simplest way to do this - it seems to be better at writing to the CF card than my USB reader.

I just did the firmware upgrade last night on my Pro 90 with no trouble using the PCMCIA adapter.

I am indeed using Windows 2000.
I have followed the exact instructions from Canon to the letter. The initial download from the Canon Web site to my computer worked fine. The USB connection to the camera works fine (ZoomBrowser and RemoteCapture are working fine). The "uploadfirmware.exe" utility detects that the camera has 1.0.0.2, and says it's starting to upload 1.0.0.3. Then, the application quits without any messages.

(I don't have a CF PCMCIA adapter, so I'm trying to do it in the camera).

You must have a friend somewhere who has a CF reader/writer so you can move the files to a CF card. From what I've heard, I don't think the transfer program is going to work for you...
