Hello all,

I went to a BMX contest at the weekend and tried to get some shots. None were really as good as i'd hoped, but i thought i'd post one and see what suggestions you could make, either to take a better shot in the first place, or to salvage with PP!?!

Any help will be appreciated! ;)

With a maximum of 55mm on your lens, it will be hard to get close enough to the action in most cases. This is one of those cases where the subject is too distant to really tell much about the photo.

I noticed that the ISO was 100 and the shutter speed was 1/250. That's going to be much too slow to freeze the action. I'd go for 1/1000 at the least for my shutter speed which means adjusting your ISO higher or your f-stop lower.

I think the timing of the shot is fine but the lens just won't let you capture a good shot from your position.

Thanks for the pointers Little Fish.

I wasn't sure if i wanted to totally freeze the action, but i guess you're right. 1/1000th of a sec next time. ;)
