I ordered the 100mm 2.8 macro from B+H on the 28th july, and today, 1st August, it has arrived here to me all the way in Australia. Im amazed at how fast it got here. Anyway, here is the first shot... I think I will have fun playing with this new toy! This is my son Blade, home from school today with an ear-ache.

Did you have to pay duty on it out of interest - I'd wondered about getting stuff from them before ???

Boy, that will teach Blade to stay home from school. Mom will start taking pictures of him :-)
A fine picture it is too, and a handsome lad.

Bless the recently fallen and their family and friends.
I have a Cannon with me at all times. You can't take the shot if you don't have something with which to shoot.

Six20aus, no, if you keep it under $1000au (including postage) then you wont pay anything else when it comes in. It is the first time I have ordered from B+H and I doubt I will ever buy here in Oz again. Even with $88 for priority delivery, it still worked out almost $300 cheaper than what I would have paid here! Insane really! And you can track it all the way.

I have that same lens and I love it. Try it for some macro shots of something like a bug—you will be hooked! At a close focus and f2.8 the DOF is incredibly small. Use your tripod, remote release, and mirror lock up with some large f numbers (f11-f22) if you can get the bug to sit still. Macro is so much fun. Congratulations. Oh, the shot you posted is very nice, I like the tight crop. My wife did not like me taking images of her with that lens. It is so sharp it shows every flaw, no matter how tiny. Have fun.
