Hi all,

Sorry for the rookie web question. I have a website that I built and have used it successfully for a year but it's not "searchable". Is there a service I need to sign up for and which is the best?

Thanks in advance!

You could try the free Google search - all you need to do is paste in a bit of code in your HTML. Depends how well you site is indexed as to how well it works though.

Sorry to hijack but if anyone else has any suggestions for a free website search function (preferablly that will work on a simple HTML designed site) then please post away :) Cheers

check the company you registered your doamin with, places like network solutions have submission services for you, i did it for my website and it is #1 - mainly cause of the spelling mathiau.

dont expect to be #1 on a search engine, search engines rank pages based on visits more or less (more complex then that)

What do you mean by searchable?

Do you mean you want people to find you using the search engines?

Or do you mean you want to have the ability to search on your website? Eg you can do a search for wedding photos on your website?

If its the first then pm me and i can send you some details on how i did mine.

If its the second then i second the free google search which Azza mentioned. It basically gives you a search box you can add to your website so you can search for stuff on your website.
