So every year I go on vacation, I have been unfortunate enough to pick the day to wake up at 6am to see the sunrise on the cloudiest day. One time did I actually get to see the sun rise over the horizon over the ocean, but did not have the camera then...but for being crappy sunrises these are what I've come up with.

Amanda, you have done a reasonable job in limiting condtions, I like the first one as the reflection is strong enough to hold the image together.
What I'm not so keen on, in all the images, the sun is too central, you need empty space to the right or left for the composition to woek.

Concentrate on equipment and you'll take technically good photographs. Concentrate on seeing the light's magic colours and your images will stir the soul. - Jack Dykinga

Hi Amanda,
I like the light in the first and the idea behind the other two. However, I agree with Les that the sun is too central. Also, check the horizon on No. 1 it looks slightly awry to me.
