It seems like it's kind of normal to have a better low light result (as far as noise is concerned) on the 5D. I agree that the 1D seems to be better in every other aspects except for the noise issue. I don't have a 20D or 30D to compared with, but from what I remember, the 20d and 30d are comparable with the 1dmk2n. Thanks! :) Now I feel better ;)

You have both of them, so yes, you should feel happy and better.

The 1DMII and N version are designed for quick action under all conditions. The 5D is a studio camera. It all depends on what the need is. In other words, I wish I could afford a 5D. ;)

Well it was made for outside as well. Just not the outside where it gets thrown in water and all. Yet, Weddings can be that crazy, but that was part of the sell. Hit up the wedding photographers who do medium format and want something comparable.

Yes, to my eyes sharpness is the main difference between the two shots.

It would be interesting to see a set of RAW shots with the lens cap on, ie total
black for various conditions and bodies.

bringing up this old post....

1) the 5d shot looks misfocused or something... ?? can someone who has both these cameras do the same type of shoot comparo with 1600 and 3200 in incandescent lighting please? :)

2) as mentioned above, the mk2n has more detail than 5d.. 5d just looks more processed in-camera. for low-light shooting, is it just me that prefers less-processed image of the 1d??
