Hello, I am new here to the forum and I am now getting back into photography. I used to use a very old minolta that my dad gave me but it shorted out almost a year ago and I never got a chance to get a new one but now i am ready to get back into it and im looking for a good starting camera. Any suggestions?

Depends on how much you're will to part w/ as far as money is concern. A good starting point would be the XT or 30D and if money is not an issue then 5D, 1DMKIIn or 1DsMKII. But remember s all about the lens and DSLR also requires work on the computer. Unlike film where you can just sent the roll out bang a set of print will suddenly appear at your door step. Going Digital means you going into a Digital Darkroom to make it really POP something like what canbe done in the darkroom.

You do realize that most of the item on the list except the camera worth very little. The two lenses mention are at best low quality lenses and the two tripod are worthless. I wouldn't recommend you to use for your camera. The very fact that they didn't mention the brand should be suspicious enough for me to stay away. The quote value of $2400 is at best a joke. At best its worth maybe $300.

U_Niq,

Digital SLR cameras and lenses have mechanical parts that can fail. Warrantees are important, and you want to be sure you buy from an authorized dealer and that you get equipment with a valid manufacturer's warrantee. While I'm sure there are honest, reputable sellers on e-bay, it's often hard to separate the good from the bad there.

There are many reputable dealers that have competitive prices. If you're in the US, here's a few:

18-55mm is good to start with for sure! I've had mine for over 8 months, now wanting to buy something a little more fitting for me. So get the 18-55mm and practice and relearn everything! After some time passes yuou cna decide from there how much you want to spend and what type of lens best suits you. Good luck!
