I'll get the 2nd 580EX by Friday. Thanks for all your responses and discussion on this matter.

I never knew so much was communicated to the slave.

Head over to the Strobist (external link) website. Hit the 'Lighting 101' link on the right side of the page and read those topics. This guy does amazing work with minimal equipment (he has a suggested kit that he pieced together for around $150 I think). Pretty good reading, I have looked it all over quite a few times over the past few months.
