I'm still saving up for the 30D, but the results I've had with the 17-55mm f2.8 IS on my 300D are so much better than with the kit lens...............my son is waiting for the 300D when I trade up! I love the lens...............and then a decent long zoom

Not only that.. it's a GREAT setup that will carry you far! I wouldn't mind being made to live with a 30D and 17-55 either.. (I almost set myself up for that but things changed and opportunity knocks)

Rui,

Super great shots...I'm loving my 17-55MM EF-S IS too.

I made this shot of my 22 month old grand daughter last night at a local park...she was fascinated by the woodland environment. This lens performs well in all light conditions :)

1/40th, f/2.8, 17MM, !SO 400 -- I used Noise Ninja and DXO to sharpen and enhance the colors a little.

Jim -- I keep the Leica D-Lux 7 in the Glove Box just in case!

I just need a wide angle lens like EF-s 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5...probably my last lens to purchase and it would complete MY SETUP, LOL.

Enjoy,

actually when i took those shots, i forgot to turn off the portrait picture style. very newbie of me. but good thing i shot RAW, so i was able to recover some. if i had use standard picture style, i think the photo would come out better.

yeah it's a great setup no doubt. was really happy that i didn't go though getting the whole kit lens and opt for just the body only.

the lens itself is ok.. not too heavy.. but when you mount it with bat grip and 30D + lens hood and occasionally a 430EX.. it does get a bit heavy. but it's a good time for me to work my arms out too.
