Buying Canon in New York

A friend of mine is visiting NY in September and is interested in taking advantage of the reduced cost of equipment over in the US (compared to here in the UK). Could any of you guys recommend low cost stores to visit? They will probably be interested in a 30D.

I would go to B&H, they have a huge store and they carry everything you can think of.

Absolutely - just remember that they close mid-day Friday and stay closed until Sunday morning.

But they (NY stores) charge tax, so the 8+% is definitely a lot.
