Not sure how many of you have seen a burnout contest, but here is a good way to toast a $200 tire.

It shouldn't take 4 guys to do a burnout... :(

Good job capturing the moment!

Nice photos m8.

But that is a kind of stupid contest in my opinion... you got to have more money to spend then brain to use in order to do that... $200 a tire.... xix....

That's exactly what they'd say... and also "I could buy 3 new tires with that $700!"

I agree with that... they can say the same about me buying a $700 lens... but the diference is, i spend $700 on a lens and with a bit of care it will last me a life time, can't say the same about those $200 tires..... they only need 4 burnouts and they already spend more then my lens...
Another one is that semi-professional or professional equipment [L lenses] can be sold later with little money loss, i can't say the same about a tire that has been used in a burnout.... ;)

But don't get me wrong, i do understand what you are saying. I have several friends that spent over $10000 in extras for they're cars but look at me with in a funny way because i bought a $700 lens and $0 (zero) in extras for my car.... Every crazy person has they're own thing... mine is photography, theyr's isn't... hehehe

(no ofense intended)

lol, ok little history........ this event started out pulling up to a curb at a bar locking the front brake and doing a burnout to impress friends, (remember alchohol, testostiron??, and motorcycles)

now most of the enties need a new tire anyway so what the hey, some events give the winner a new tire installed, that paticular event was a $500 first prize.

As for how to get smoke in gravel? There is a metal stand that the bike is sitting in and tied down too, the tire is in a piece of channel iron (add a little water and wala smoke)

and yes there is a smell and if that would bother you please dont go to a drag race.

Mmmm... ??? seems a bit far removed from actually doing it for real on tarmac...

Interesting shots though - It's certainly created a conversation piece :-)
