wow that Tamrac is nice.

I just picked up a Lowepro Computrekker AW last weekend and I really like it...but...my 15.4" Toshiba is an incredibly tight squeeze (the zipper on the backpack has already rubbed some of the paint off the laptop lid). I'm hoping that if I keep the laptop in there for extended periods of time (when not in use) it'll stretch the material a bit.

The camera portion of the bag's nice...currently I have my Sigma 530 flash (about the same size as a Canon 580), my 30D with the Tamron 17-50 with the hood attached, my 70-200 plus the camera battery charger, an Energizer charger for my flash batteries and an extra set of flash batteries...plus I keep the charger/cord for my laptop in the camera portion too. I'll post pics when I'm slightly less lazy :)

I have a vertex 300 for my 17" laptop, and it fits fine. The bag can be heavy with everything loaded in it(30D, 100-400, 17-40, 28-135, and the laptop, along with a few accessories).

I have just ordered a Lowepro Vertex 300 and will let you know my assessment when it arrives in a few days.

The Vertex seems to have more room since it has a basically rectangular shape and is not narrower towards the top as are many backpacks.

I was going to get a backpack which incorporated wheels and a carrying handle but, the internal wheels and handle takes up a lot of room which can be better used for equipment and the external or detachable wheels might push a bag of this size over the airline carry-on size limit.
