Anyone with Sigma 80-400mm F4.5-5.6 EX OS APO for EOS?

I know that Sigma recently released their new 80-400mm Zoom with Optical Stabilizer. I was wondering if anyone on the board has one, or has even seen one. I'm thinking about getting it as my next lens, but they seem to be in REALLY short supply right now.

If you have one, please let me know what you think about it.

*BUMP*

I'd like to hear a bit more about this lens too. I saw the release from Photokina but haven't heard or seen anything on this lens since. Sigma doesn't even list it on their site. Are any retailers selling it?

Less than $1000...

5D and holy trinity of primes. Now the 90mm TS-E TS-E fly bit me. I hate these forums.

O-kay,. you probably don't want to buy from smile... :( they don't exactly have a good rating.

I have yet to read a review of this lens ANYWHERE,.. it was supposed to be released many months ago but most places don't actually have it... (i think no one does)

.. don't know what the hold up is.

I'm too pretty eager to read some reviews, consumer reviews that is. I hope this lens picture quality is equal or better that Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 EX HSM...

I would say it is unlikely to be better and would struggle to be as good. This is simply because of the fact it is over a 4x zoom factor and often lenses with such a high zoom factor tend to sacrifice sharpness. The Canon 100-400L IS is an exception, but it is still nowhere near as sharp as any of the 70-200 canon lenses.
Also the sigma 70-200 EX is known to be one of the best zoom lenses sigma do, they would struggle to beat it :)

If in doubt, I shut up...

Gear: 40D, 12-24mm AT-X Pro, 17-85mm, Sigma 150mm Macro Sigma 100-300 F4, 550EX, other stuff that probably helps me on my way.

It is guaranteed to ship by January. The only question is: "what year?"
