Thank you Jackal...I think I will do some of the common figures, so that I can carry them with me! I found another site too, where you can pay $ 2.50 and they will post 10 different settings for you. (Premium Service !) I am not sure if that would be worthwhile or not.

I also have to use my tripod...I was doing some testing this morning and later realized that I was on 800 ISO to get enough light. Maybe I will be happier with my lens when I do it right! I know better than to handhold.

I still have fears that the lens may not be right...I shouldn't as a few people already told me that it looks fine...but I worry anyway. Really it makes getting a new lens not fun for me!

Thank you lucky...I took this one today...along with about 60 others of course! I am no longer worried about not having a good copy! I am really enjoying the wide angle and am amazed at the close ups that I can take with it too! So much to learn!!!
I am still trying to post a photo after putting it on Flickr...All I see is a red x...so I will have to see if it will post...or I will have to try another way!

Mine, numbered 1018531, produces really nice, sharp pictures just as much as my other Sigma and Canon do.

Let me see...The no. is 1032632 What does the no. mean?

Angryhampster...Do you think my lens is not as sharp as it should be?

Just wondering...

Margie

The number designates production. Sometimes you'll have a "bad batch" of lenses, all produced around the same time with close serial numbers. I don't think your lens looks bad at all. I *try* to always take pictures at f/7.1-f/8 with this lens if I can. I've noticed much better results doing that than wide open.

consider increasing the exposure a touch and adding a bit more contrast on both shots.
I'm glad you stopped measurbating and started shooting instead. Shooting is a better way to pass time than looking at lines at 100% on the 'puter.

Is this better...I seem to fear adding too much PP and making it look unrealistic!
If it is not enough or too much, please feel free to post imagine the way you are imagining it!
Thanks...

Another with PP...
Does it need more of something, do you think?

those issue of when is enough is upto you.
Generally RAW shots benefit from contrast and sharpening as they have non applied. The last one has a touch more purplish color cast than the orange cast I'd expect from a sunset, but once agin, it's all personal. Generally speaking, more vibrant color, contrast, and sharpening all help to add to making an image "pop."

Just keep shooting and experimenting. As long as you have fun, that's the main thing.
