Hi this is my first post and I am just getting into photography. I first got into photography because I saw all the pics people took on a car forum that I was on and was interested. I started taking pictures around the house and I am in love. I've been taking pictures with an Olympus that I really don't like. It can't take good macro's and it has serious focus problems. I want to get a new camera that can start me out well. I was thinking about the SD550, but I'm not possitive. I want something slim but that can still take decent pictures, from landscape and scenic to macros. I would get a Nikon D50 but I can't afford it. I need to get something in the $300 range. Whats the perfect camera for me?

Welcome to the Forums;

The best camera for you is the one that you are most comfortable with, meets your needs as a photographer and fits in your price range.
On these forums you will get high praise for anything Canon as we are all Canon owners.
I would suggest that you visit your local camera shop and look at all models in your price range and see how they fit your needs and how they feel in your hand, etc.
Compare them (Spec sheet on internet) and make an informed decision, remember it's your camera and you will have to live with it.
Once you have narrowed it down post your choices and see what others have to say about them, then make your decision.

Good Luck

Wayne

www.dpreview.com (external link) is one of the best resources for reviews on cameras. Their review gave me the confidence to buy the 30D and I've never looked back since.
