Hey :). I'm pretty new to photography, and I've been looking for somewhere (friendly but honest) to learn and get critiqued. I've been lurking here for a few days, and love it, although I don't use a Canon. I do need a better camera soon though. Anyway, I'm interested in wedding photography and travel photography. I did my first wedding a couple of weeks ago, for my grandfather-in-law, and I loved it. I do need a lot of practise and advice though. Sooo, here are some of my favourite pictures. A lot of my pictures are on my website http://www.craftsbyvictoria.com/personal (external link) , if you want to look. I'd love opinions.

Welcome isis24! I'm sure we'll have you hooked on a Canon soon!
Some nice shots here. Perhaps the first could have a little more colour saturation. If you have Photoshop or some other editing s/ware you could achieve this. Was the young lad selling turtles? Obviously business was not that brisk...
Anyway, look forward to your contributions.

Welcome to the forum. You'll find lots of friendly and helpful people here. I'm sure you'll learn a lot and be able to contribute much as well. You might start by familiarizing yourself with the stickies at the top of each of the forums as there is much information there you'll find helpful and interesting.

Happy Shooting,

Mark

Thanks for the welcome :). Iain, I've used paintshop pro for a while, photoshop scares me. What does saturation do?

Welcome to the POTN and very nice work.

Saturation means to make the colors pop, standout, vivid like the 2,3, & 4 shot.

lostdoggy has explained it well. #2, 3 and 4 have great colour saturation. #5 is a little on the dark side around the face. Love the shot of the crowd. Just what are they up to?

It's not that the 1st picture needs more saturation. The problem with it is that is has been overexposed, especially in the blue channel. You can try using levels or curves to correct that (by adjusting the midtone). When you do, you'll see your colors (at least the parts that haven't been blown) come back and not look as washed out as it is now.

The other photos are well exposed and nicely done, except for the last one that's a little underexposed, a victim of the sunlit background. You can use levels or curves to correct that as well.

Overall, they are nice pictures with interesting subject matters. Thanks for sharing. :)
