Hey everybody, I'm new to the forum, in fact, this is my first post:). I really don't know anything about cameras....but I love to look at beatiful photography. So I decided that I would like to purchase a digital camera and try my hand at it. Which one should I get? I've been thinking about the canon s2 or s3...any suggestions? Are those cameras above my skill level or will I grow into them? The more comments the better!! Thanks in advance!

Either of those cameras would be a good place to start. They would afford you the capability of manual controls and provide excellent image quality without the necessity of post processing which you would face with a DSLR. Learn not only about camera controls but also about the art of photography. Two books that come to mind that complement each other well are Bryan Peterson's "Understanding Exposure" and "Learning to See Creatively."

Best of luck in your endeavors.

Either camera wil be a get start. You'll love it, because that would be the camera I would buy if I was looking for a P&S as a supplement to my DSLR. It has12X and IS and a compliment of manual mode. I would recmmend it. Another one I would recommend but little larger in size is the Panasonic Lumix, I think DMC FZ7 or something like that.
