The only source of light was the flame, I like the way the subject is lit...

Good stuff. I like them all.

The background of the fan one bugs me, but I can't think of how to change it. The fan itself is excellent.

I think the drain one gets a little lost in the stuff on the center/left side.

The light effect in the fire picture is wonderful - wish the composition was more active.

I don't think the background is the problem with the fan. I think the fan is the problem with the background. To my eye, the fan is in the way of the graffiti that pulls my eye in.
