350D Battery Grip - Confused

Can anyone help me clear this up..?

I went to my local Jessops today to look at the Battery Grip for my 350D and see how the camera feels with it on. They had one in stock and fitted it to a 350D for me to try. On asking the assistant about batteries, I was told it only took AA size batteries. When I questioned this, they opened the grip and took out the battery holder, which sure enough had spaces for 6 or so AA batteries. I asked if it took the standard 350D NB2LH rechargeable battery and was told no - if you switch to the grip then AA is what you have to use   -? -?. Naturally Jessops currently have an offer on AA rechargeables...

Surely this can't be right. I've seen advertisements for the grip saying it takes up to 2 NB2LH batteries.

I would apprciate help from anyone who has the Grip.

Claire

The grip will take both. Either AA's, or, the NB2LH's. There are 2 different battery holders and they both come with the grip.

It will take both . you just got the normal level of service from Jessops.. ie they are crap and have no idea what they are selling most of the time. If you search around you will find that grip for less than they want for it.

Saying all that, I dod use their online webstore as you can get some nice deals with the promo codes you can find at:

If you find a cheap place to buy it, tell me, because I'm in the market for one (and I wish I'd bought it from walters when it was £70 inc.)

Tell me about it... the guy didn't even know how to remove the lens from the camera. I asked them to fit a lens of similar size and weight to ones I have. He tried to use the DOF preview button to unlock the lens .

Thanks for the link :D, great site for checking the latest prices. I found Park Cameras on there too - £79.99!! Jessops wanted £120 - oh plus £14.99 for the AA batteries . Perhaps he thought he could rip me off...

Anyway I'll probably order one as the camera definitely feels better balanced when using heavier lenses.

Thanks for the help :)

I'm surprised that there are still high street camera shops!?! They really can't compete with the net on any level.

I really should look further into the camera grip. I have no idea what they even do!?! :o

I did get suspicious over the price when I saw the Sandisk Extreme III 1Gb CF card I bought from picstop for £33.80 priced up at £90 in Jessops... The same thing is only £66 on their website. Still twice the price though. Who buys this stuff from them?

Still it's good to be able to go in, try something out and then come home and order it cheaper elsewhere...

lol
i've bought 2 BG-E3s and they both came with the 6AA holder in by default.

go back tell them to get you the demo box, you'll see the double nb-2lh holder in there.
probably still in its original packaging.
