Apologies first, as i am sure this has been covered extensively....but i can find nothing.
Can anyone point me in the right direction as to how i can frame/surround a print for web publication, and also apply that obscure "copyright Joe Smith Photography" text across/below the pic.
Many thanks in anticipation.
Cheers, d

I'm not sure how others do it, but I have Mikes framer script which is excellent. Details here http://homepage.ntlworld.com/pooternerds/Framer/index.html (external link)

For copyright info I created a custom brush in Photoshop so all I have to do is select it and click on the image. Let me know if this is the sort of thing you want and I will post the 'how to'

Yes, a how-to for that will be very useful for me. I like to get recognition for the pictures I take...

OK :)
1. Create a new file 5" wide and 2" high. 360 dpi and greyscale 8 bit. Set the background to transparent

2. Make sure the foreground colour is black and choose the type tool. Type {Alt}+0169 on the Numeric keypad for the copyright sign add a space and type your name. Click the check sign to accept your text. Select the text and choose whatever font you prefer, making sure that the copyright sign remains. It doesn't exist in all fonts.

3. Choose Select all, then Layer - Align Layers to Selection - Horizontal Centres. This will centre the text left to right. Move the text down towards the bottom of the page. Press V to select the move tool and then use the arrow keys to position the text in the bottom third of the layer.

4. Use the Rectangular Marquee tool to make a selection round the logo. Then choose Edit - Define Brush Preset and name it Watermark.

When you're ready to add a copyright to an image, simply create a new layer. Select the brush tool and from the brushes palette choose your 'Watermark' brush. Select an appropriate size for the brush and single click on the image where you want it placed. As its a brush its resizeable, just like any other so it can be adjusted to suit the image size.

This is not my idea I hasten to add. I picked it up from an ebook I bought from Mark Johnson Photography. Its excellent and I can thoroughly recommend it. Also take a look at www.radiantvista.com (external link) for some great tutorials.

There's an "Actions" tab just like there's one for History, Layers, etc. Click on the arrow for the flyout menu and choose the option "Create Action". Enter in the name and you'll start "recording" an action. Then you can go back and play that action.

I'd suggest that you go through the tutorial first without worrying about creating the action. Play around and figure out how to get the border/copyright/watermark in there first. Once you're happy with how that looks then switch and play around with creating some basic actions. Make one to resize an image. Make another image to convert it to black & white. Then go through the tutorial again putting it all together. It's not too "complex" but there are a lot of pieces in it that can make things confusing.
