Anyone got a piccy of thier strap? Was thinking of buying one but the shots on the POTN shop are a bit lacking in detail. Anyone got some better shots?

Also how much better are the pro straps from the Canon ones you get with the camera?

What exactly are you looking for? Maybe someone can take a close-up shot of that part of the strap you're interested in seeing. I'd do it myself but I'm at work right now and don't have my gear with me.

What I like about the POTN straps is that fact that you can detach the main section of the strap leaving a short 6 or so inch section from each end of the strap attached to the camera. These can be clipped together to form a handle of sort.

The POTN straps are wider (almost 3 times wider) than the strap that comes with the camera so it tends to stay put on your shoulder much better.

The "pro loop" which attaches the strap to the camera is easier to manuever when shooting in portrait mode and hence easier to move out of the way. The regular canon strap tends to drop straight down and block the eyepiece in portrait mode and is not easy to move out of the way.

And the most important advantage of the POTN strap? It's sooooo coooool looking.

I understand what you are asking, but I wouldn't worry about it. I don't think POTN would sell something that wasn't wonderful, they have to pay for them up front before selling them. I bought 2 straps and I love them because the Canon ones are not as comfy and the lettering for the POTN straps are not screaming at you, but rather classy and "only POTN" members recognize it. So, if you are interested in getting one, go for it! I also like the quick release, actually use it. The pictures of different colors don't do them justice, really. You need to get one to see how they work.

You feeling ok Leo. I thought you had your gear with you all the time:D:D:D:D

The OpTech POTN strap is a wise purchase. When we were putting together this purchase program I took the opportunity to visit their manufacturing plant in Montana. They put alot of care and pride into their product.

I think I have about 8 of them. I have them on all my bodies and also use them for carrying straps on my 300,500 and 600 lenses. As Leo said, the Pro Loop one is a great strap in that you can detach it leaving only short ends still attached to the camera. I do this when I use it on the tripod alot.

Your shoulders or neck, depending on how you carry your camera, will thank you.

Thanks for asking, Sheldon, but I've been experiencing some back problems myself. I was out of work for two day the other week because of my back. Growing old is a pain (literally), ain't it?

Yeah, so I've stopped carrying my gear and backpack around recently. I do have my S2 IS sitting in the car, though. :)

I took my camera bag to work today. I took a shot of the padded part. The other parts are on the camera. I put a stapler in there so you can compare the size.

Nice shot. Wondered how anyone was going to take a picture of the strap while still on the camera. See, the lettering is really small and in white. Classy. :)

I'm definitely never found not wearing my strap. Unless my camera is on the tripod. This strap is really handy and comfortable. I also like the quick release feature.

Get out the Sharpy - that line is supposed to be L red, but Op Tech wouldn't do two-colour screens.

I'm gonna buy one once I get to the states. Not that I need one, but I NEED to support POTN with all the useful info it has provided me with. SO even if it is only 1/2 way useful with me, it's still my $$ well worth spent. Thank you POTN!!!

I got my strap a month of so ago and used it when I shot Barber 3 weeks ago. Trust me it is much more Compfy than the Canon one!!

Edit: Plus it was a good way for me to support POTN

A few things you can't tell from the photo:
It's a nylon strap with a foam rubber pad.
It has a bit of stretch to it which makes it more comfortable to wear.
The bottom side of the pad has a bunch of rubber bumps which help prevent it from sliding off your shoulder.
I have used mine a lot, with over 5 pounds hanging on it (20D + 70-200 F2.8 + Flash unit).
I have not seen any sign of wear or deterioration.
I am very happy with it. I sometimes wish it was a bit longer, but that could be corrected with a few loops of shoelace.

Very nice looking strap. And it doesn't scream the brand name for all to see.
