For the first time I will have access to the infield at a track (hosting rallycross). Its a very simple question really - "is there any etiquette when shooting in this area". Obviously be careful where you stand and listen to marshalls but are there any other do's and dont's that perhaps do not immediately come to mind. Just looking for a heads up.

Cheers,

I shot infield for the first time a few weeks ago and just made sure to spoeak with the safety people out of courtesy and also offered them all water. Keep your gear inside the fences when shooting through holes. Thats all I learned. Have fun!

Cheers,

Rallycross drivers don't always stick to the track so keep away from the edges. For none-UK readers, rallycross is usually half tarmac and half gravel/mud and when shooting infield there is nothing at all between you and the cars other than distance. Those of us that photograph these events are partly mad, but mainly risk junkies.

Travel light infield and wear everything so if you have to run to avoid junior in his Mini heading your way you won't have to stop to pick up the gear. Do not get between the pros and the action, you won't be popular, stand alongside them.

Outfield on the last couple of bends is often the best place if the racing is close as nudging and bumping is quite popular.
