I tried out the Hadley Pro with a 17-40L attached. The problem I had wasn't really the height of the bag, but more of the slim depth. I probably should have known from the dimensions, but sometimes it's hard to tell how things will look or fit just by looking at the dimensions.

I wasn't actually concerned about the "camera protection" aspect of the bag - it really was just because I get a bit anal about these kinds of things. I like for things to fit and close as designed and keep clean lines, so the bulge just bothered me personally. I'm sure for many people, it is no problem. Also, I plan to carry my 13" Macbook Air in the bag on occasion, which made the fit even tighter.

I understand now. I read your original post wrong, I thought you meant the top flap didn't close!

But yes, adding a laptop in there would make it a bit too tight.

P.S. What colour Packington did you get?

I got the Packington in khaki/tan. I'm about to take it with me on a week-long trip, which should give me ample opportunity to evaluate the bag before I write my review :D

I posted some earlier in this thread both with m4/3 gear and with a 5D at the request of another member (too tight for me to use with the 5D).

Yah I was thinking it would be pretty tight with my 5D3 and lens/lenses.

The Digital is tempting me as well. Fits my 5D3 and 50L/85L perfectly but that about it :)

Hally new year fellow Billingham lovers :)

Love the small, but for my OM-D. It's a little small for a 5D3.

Just pulled the trigger on a tan Billingham Hadley Small. Spent a ton of time debating between the small and digital...and once I made my decision I spent even more time debating on which color.

I'd decided on a Digital in sage. Waited a couple weeks and landed on the Small in tan. Figured I should just buy it before I change my mind again. I have a feeling this wont be my last Billingham.

Will be using it with a Fujifilm X-E1 and 3 lenses, as well as the usual odds and ends accessories.

Congratulations! I believe you made the right choice. I enjoy using my Digital with a single lens; I don't enjoy swapping lenses with my Oly M5. I have a hood on the kit zoom, and it simply takes up too much space. Yesterday I swapped lenses a couple of times in the cold, and wished I had brought a bigger bag. Or my d300s with 18-200VR attached, which fits in the Digital just fine without a hood.

(I am a bagaholic; however, my bags were bought for my dslr with grip. This transition to micro 43rds is painful. After all the Oly kit now replicates my d300s with walk-around zoom mounted. Spent money for what? :( )

Congratulations!!

I was looking at the Small as well but it's a bit "small" for my gear unfortunately.

I may buy the Digital though, thanks to 2mnycars' advice as a nice compact 1-lens walk around combo.

I just ordered the SP-40 shoulder pad on eBay. Cheaper coming from Korea compared to B&H as the duty and shipping to Canada is $30 (making the strap $80 through B&H!! Ouch...)

The thing I really love about the Billingham bags is that, just like those other two fine things we talk about in life, they age very gracefully.

Finally got a chance to take a few shots of my recently acquired Billingham 307. I love this bag. It's sooo nice. It's almost too nice honestly. I'm a little worried someone will see it and think dollar signs, but I will just be careful where I use it.

Anyway, I used two shorter size 9 inserts that I bought separately and cut the ends off like I saw here. I also removed the divider of the taller size 8 insert that came with it for the 70-200 2.8 II. The two size 9s don't really fit too great as you can see but they squish into place so it works. It's all that was in stock so I made due with what I had. It works great and actually I couldn't fit my 135L with hood on inside the 8 so it was actually a good thing they were out of the 8s. I can fit my 35L with hood in the 9 too and with the middle removed of the size 8 I can fit the 70-200 II in with hood also. The large space is for my gripped 5D III with 17-40, 135L or 35L, they all fit fine. The 1.4 extender is kept on top a stowed lens and I keep the hood of the 17-40 around the 70-200 usually although it's not pictured here.

I'm REALLY happy with this setup - finally. I can keep everything together and don't have to mix and match backpack and shoulder bags. I'm using my black Hadley pro as a lighting bag where I carry all my speedlites and little things so I come onsite with two Billigham bags and look kinda boss (I think at least lol jk)....

Onto the pics;
