I am in the market for a 5D, I am planning to make this purchase sometime between now and the end of September. I am most interested in purchasing from a store vs. online, and plan to purchase from bestbuy.

My concern is, I missed out on the rebates they offered this summer, but hate to buy now and then 2 weeks later a new reabte comes along.

Does anyone know of there may be some possible rebates coming along anytime soon?

i would wait...as canon been running "fall" season rebates for the past couple of years.

any particualr reason you're buying from bestbuy? there are reputable online stores that are cheaper in prices ($$ saved can use that toward some new glass!).

I don't know as though they'd offer $300 off the 5D again...I don't know why I don't think so...I just don't.

I bought my 5D on the day the rebates ended, and sent out the rebate on the last day at the last minute. I'm a procrastinator. :-D

I am buying from bestbuy because my husband works there, and he gets a decent discount. Also because he works there the best buy "protection plan" will actually replace the camera if something happens. They normally don't do this for regular customers, I know thats horrible, but they will do alot of things for "family" that they normally wouldn't do for regular customers. We have looked into the service plan extensivley, I have talked to other bestbuy employees who have done the exchange on their cameras so I feel pretty good about making the purchase there. Also I am not a huge fan of making large purchases over the internet. We have the cash ready, I would rather pay that way and instantly get my camera in hand rather than wait for shipping.

retail is 3299.99 and employee price is 2970ish. i just bought mine from best buy a couple weeks ago because i work there. the only reason i purchased there was to get the service plan. i had my 20d replaced twice. the last time i was able to upgrade it to the 30d at not additional charge.

So when should the new rebates hit then? I am fuzzy on a time frame and need all the help I can get. I want to get a 30D for my wife and want to save some green$$
