it said the 30D was 10Mpixel (along with the 5D), so I amended it...

wikis are great if people contribute. I think we should get one to list good photography spots/walks etc.

Where do I go to actually contribute? That link brings me to the rules and about the wiki - but none of the information.

That need to have "and know that thier talking about" added to the end.

An encyclopeia is only as good as its authors, and when those authors can be anybody, of any knowledge level you can see where the problems begin.

So long and thanks for all the flash

That's nothing different from this forum... and I bet there's nowhere in the world you can go for quality info like here.

Most of the time, the reference wiki (wikipedia) does a very good job. I remember even there was an independent investigation of two commercial encyclopedia and wikipedia, and it turned out that they were about equal, information quality wise.

So I'd say: why not give it a chance?

On a forum you get to question others, so there is a chance for the correct info to come out.
And of course the majority of whats discussed is usually opinion, for which there is never a right or wrong answer.

Wiki's give the appearance of being factual reference material.
While a lot of entries are accurate, it is far, far to easy for inaccurate information to be put in, and its even easier for people to pass off opinions as facts.

So long and thanks for all the flash

Very true. I consulted Wikipedia a while ago about a topic I know something about. The"facts" there were just wrong opinions of the writer. I still have to edit these pages.

But then again, almost all reference material contains errors. The trick is to consult more than 1 independent source if you want to be sure. Especially on the internet.
