I tried to understand what is that on your photo. not so clear detail but i am not aware of what is there.

It's actually a view from my home window. First there's a road with parked cars and one passing by left its light rail to the picture. Behind the cars and threes there's sea and boats lit by the moon.

The intention with this was to capture the mood not the details ;-)a

1-fit a good lens to the camera
2-place the camera on a tripod
3- turn on the camera, slower the shutter speed.
4-take test shots, keep the shots u find them the best of overall.

thats all what i can do.

you don't have to havve a good lens. i have a very similar shot that was taken with the kit lens and it looks just the same. because you have to have a tripod, you can close the lens to f9 and even the kit lens looks great in f9.

pretty much:

1) camera mounted on a tripod.
2) about 2 sec shutter speed or more depending on traffic
3) use remote shutter realese or timer
4) take the shot
5) check the histogram and the image and correct the settings as you see fit.

remember, faster shutter to freeze motion and slower shutter to show movement :)

I love the California Adventure one so much!!! I was planning to try that next time I am there! Did you take a tripod or just lay the camera on the railing?

I like this one of Costa Rica coastline at night. I wish it wasn't cloudy and had some stars and the moon in it. I used my kit lens.

Here are two of my favorites both taken with my 10D and a Sigma 20mm f/1.8 which I no longer own.
The first is of City Hall in Green Cove Springs while the second is Friendship Fountain and the Jacksonville, Florida skyline.

Thanks - I used a tripod. I also took shots as the sun set, but they didn't come out as well. There is an amphitheatre-type plaza across the lake where I set up. No one was there, and this was the height of summer.
