A sad day.... Joe Rosenthal died Sunday.

Joe Rosenthal (the photographer that shot the raising of the flag in Iwo Jima) died on Sunday. :(

Joe Rosenthal died at 94.

Just saw this on the news. This is the guy who took the Iwo Jima flag raising picture.

I think we are less for his passing. One of the top photos of all time.

What a great loss. Not only did I enjoy viewing his work but I it was such a pleasure watching him describe all of the work that went into his photos.
Another great WW2 veteran gone.:(

I wouldn't necessarily "grieve" the loss. Rosenthal was 94 years old; he'd led a full and, one might suspect, rewarding life.

May we all be so fortunate...

He has probably the best monument ever built to a photographer's craft.

The made a memorial based on his most famous photo. Not many photographer's get that.

Actually you don't know how accurate of a statement that really is. That image is the most often reproduced/published image in the world, according to an article I read by AP a couple of years ago. I knew I should have saved that article because it really was interesting.


On shooting sports...If you see it happen then you didn't get it.
