I've never had any luck trying to get text, photo, text when attaching a photo. The attached images always appear at the bottom. The advice that you recieved above is for when you host your images somewhere else.

When you use the forum server for photos you have to attach the photos like you normally would. Typically you would then just press submit and they would appear with the attachment box around it at the end of the post. However, if you set the cursor where you want the photo to be "embedded" and click on the paperclip attachment icon again, you can select one or both photos to be inserted at your cursor's location. Then you can have text, photo, text, photo, and even more text. I do it all the time.
