Just got the 70-200 F/4L...

All i can say is YAY!

I just got it and i love it so much. the action, weight and feel of it is soo far beyond what i am used to or was expecting.

well that is it, it is just a pleasure to use. now i see why people start raising their gear standards to the L level.

hopefully this will hold me over for a few weeks, i know most people move up to the f/2.8 or the IS version...

Great lens but as you say, once you have the f4, you'll want the 2.8 and preferably the IS version.

I got that a few months back and sold the f4L (reluctantly). Went to a good home though as a guy here on POTN collected it

I miss the great weight and easy handling but the 2.8 IS is an amazing lens.

i have the money to get the f/4, but eventually, i will want the 2.8 IS. that's why i'll wait till i can afford the 2.8 IS.

The resale value of the f4 is very good. I didn't really lose much in my sale because the price of the lens had gone up over the period from when I bought to when I sold!

There's some great deals to be had if you look around the B&S forums.

Out of interest, is there a IS variant of the f/4? I've nowhere enough money to even consider buying an L lens, but I'm curious anyway!

Not in the 70-200 range. There is a 24-105 f4L IS which is an amazing lens too.

Not right now but there is a rumour of a f/4 IS coming out very soon

Congrat, for travel, I prefer the F4 over the F2.8 IS, lighter and smaller, good choice.

I bought the F4, kept it for a few months, sold it for about $30 less than what I paid and got the 2.8. I went Sigma though...no regret's.

There is a thread in the Rumor section of an IS version of the f/4L. Also in talks are a 50 f/1.2 and the successor to the 350D/XT--> 400D.

It's a nice lens to have.
