I'm ashamed to say that my 20D is beginning to look like that. I don't baby my equipment. Just use it until it dies.

And I commend you for actually using your tool. Too many people are worried about how their gear looks rather than how the images taken with the equipment looks. If my camera looked like that I'd be proud, because it would mean that I actually put in some work. ;)

I wonder if those marks are there from whacking the camera around or from scrubbing inside the bag.

The area around the shutter is worn out all around which is hard to do with just from pressing the shutter alone.

Depends on how the user stored it. He or she may have kept it in the bag as a secondary body with only the body cap on it. Though I can't imagine why they'd do that. Without a lens mounted, those scrapes can easily occur from frequent rubs. Esp. if he/she was frenquently shooting in the hottest spots around the world as a PJ. Considering the shutter count, I wouldn't doubt it.

Mine get the rub marks from being in the bag with a bunch of lenses. I've never been one to use dividers that much, although I finally got a decent backpack. I'm usually more worried about getting a lens changed quickly at a ball game so I don't miss anything.

I don't really baby my stuff but I do watch that it stays in good condition, as I figure if I keep them looking nice, the resale value is high. Sold my 10D recently for 600, which was good.

But i defintely drag my bodies around, so I am sure they get their little knicks from time to time. Many that defintely got a lot of wear on it.

Nice :)

To be honest, it not only adds character but it kind of reassures you that it's been used and has proven itself in the field, if it was immaculate and hardly used you'd have to wonder why it was in good condition and unused.

I definitely do baby my stuff, I like it to look good as new. I'm not a pro and I need to maintain resale value. It's not hard to keep your stuff in good shape. Hell, i even keep the boxes in good shape.

I have tried to register for FM, but it keeps telling me the registration is doing maintenance. Does anyone know when people will be allowed to register for FM? Thanks.
