Just noticed that the 30D is dropping at B&H. Using the psaug code it's $1,170. I wonder if this is in response to the 400D/XTi, or will Canon be introducing a replacement at Photokina next month? Hmm....

"Raw" is not an acronym, abbreviation, nor a proper noun; thus, it should not be in capital letters.

i wished if that 1Dmark2N was dropped as well, but doesn't matter.

Maybe they want to sell more instead of new models coming?

30D is too new for replacement. Even though there are small changes to the 30D from the 20D, all the money in retooling the assembly line, packaging etc would be a waste to replace it so soon.

I don't think Canon can afford to NOT replace the 30D sooner than their usual 18 months based on the competition, and I think it's exactly what it is, a stop-gap until the real guns come out. If it makes it over a year, I will be surprised...I am thinking big rebates this fall. That said, still a GREAT camera.

Methinks they still need a killer camera in the $1800 USD range...it's a big jump from a 30D to a 5D, right into D200 territory.

Just type "psaug" in the search box at the top left.

The 30D has always been priced low, even when it first came out. It's nice to be able to get that quality for such a low price.

Oh and then choose Canon so the search becomes quicker, when you get in there.

I'd say the price drop is in response to the Sony Alpha selling for $999 as a kit. The Nikon D80 nor the XTi is out yet, so if they affect the 30D's price, I'd expect it's after it's released.
Just my guess...

B&H has a discount code for those in the know I guess, if you type ps and the first three letters of the last/current even month like psaug, a list of discounted items show up for some "secret" savings.

For the most part they are savings. I've seen some items more expensive sometimes, which was weird.

I've noticed in my wish list that the psmay prices are the same as the regular prices now.
