corey.. that's cool that you had the chance to talk with him. so i'm debating on whether to go or not. and if i do go.. do i bring my camera with me or not? grr...

wify is telling me to go.. cuz she wants me to shoot like david jay.. but one can only be so hopeful right?

wow.. from the sound of it.. he probably doesn't do much pp. i see that a lot of this stuff is outsourced.. but at the same time i guess that's his main selling point... hands free.... "provided that you are good at taking photos... maybe?"

for a newb like me.. i find a lot of time i'm stuck doing pp from my RAW.

if you do go, bring your gear, if for no other reason that SB is a beautiful place, and you don't want to be worth a top photogrpaher at the nations best school with no camera right :) supposedly its a shoot on saturday and sunday is learning about post proccessing and what to do from there. I just don't kow how much more detail he'll go into vs the info he provides online. Although actually seeing it is much better than reading about it

its a tough decision, I'd love to go, but I know that hands free isn't what I'm looking for at the moment, though I've been demoing his software and its great.

corey... good point. since i only have one lense 17-55mm... hopefully it'll be sufficient... and won't be outclassed... (which i probably will.. )

i wonder if he shoots RAW or jpeg? i guess if i do decide to go.. i'd better decide soon.. or else i'll be a homeless bum in SB with a sign that say.. "need money... will shoot you for free" hahaha  i know corny.. but hey!.. will and grace is on..

This showit software are just actions that you use in PS? isnt it?
I guess it would be the same as what Kevin Kubota does, or sells.
http://kubotaworkshops.com/ (external link)

I use Kubota actions and they are really good. Of course Doug Gordon is who "pushes" the Kubota actions and I was able to attend one of Doug's Workshops.

I'd Love to go to David's lets see what happens.....

I'm sure its fine. On one of his instruction videos it says he shoots RAW, and either with jpeg or exports them on the spot as he uses his software at the wedding to show a slideshow, then later uses his software again to do the same actions to the RAW files.

thats actually really funny you said that about the homeless, SB is "best place in the US" for homeless people to live. warm climate year round, tons of visiting tourists, and a permanet address so they don't get arrested.

You won't have much luck shooting for free though, too many Brookies students in need of shots :)

I'm still on the fence, I have places to stay for free, its just getting down there. The price of the conference is dirt cheep, atleast when you copare it to normal tuition there.

yes, you must remember he is catering to a totally different crowd than most of us are. I mean, I hate flash and sound on websites so I avoid it on mine.... but.....

These people are usually making loads of money and typically are in positions where they can't get in trouble for surfing the web at work.

His method is very effective, made totally for his target demographic... young, rich, and with lots of style.

Sorry to cut in, but if your wife is telling you to go, then take advantage of it. Take your camera and go, then post all your awesome pics and the tips you learned. :p

Exactly what I've had to argue before. (But I don't really like flash)

flash is obviously a personal choice. and its just that flash, as in flashy, so it gets noticed and seems "better" than a tradional site.

He said it somewhere in one of his videos that his key is how he envokes an emotional attachment to the pictures, and that his whole business was created through referals from his pictures he displays at the wedding. He gets a slideshow going at the reception and up online that night.
