If I am going to upgrade I am going to wait for improvements that will actually help my photos. I would like to see IS or even higher ISO’s so camera shake becomes less important. Higher MP’s will also be important when they are substantial, i.e. 15-20 mp’s. I say save your money and wait for some REAL improvements.

I looked at a 20D that was still in the box new, but decided that if I'm upgrading I might as well get the current model. I like to shoot wildlife and birds a lot, so the 1.6 crop factor is a plus. Adds to the effect of the Bigma Canon5DIII + Some L + Some non L + Some Sigma + Some Tamron + other stuff....

I seem to get better results wide open with my 50 prime than my tammy zoom. I guess I always thought it was the lens. I am not that up on whether the AF would really help me with some of those flower and bug type shots. I usually try to stop down a couple clicks with my tamron because I get better results.

My first Rebel cost me $400.00 after rebates, sold if for $400.00 and upgraded to the XT. Will sell my XT for $400. or less and upgrade to the XTi for about $400. I couldn't agree more. I bought my Olympus 765 for £220 and sold it 5 months later for £190 to fund my 350D. £6 per month or £1.50 per week or even £0.20 pence per day! Not a bad price to pay for a camera. It's a lot cheaper than the films I used to buy. Panasonic TZ5 ;Canon IXUS 850; (Canon 400D, 17-85IS; 75-300; bag; filters and all that stuff given to my very clever daughter for passing her exams!)

However, the improvements you mentioned are already available in the Canon's higher line DSLR's like the 30D, 5D, and above. 8) Alex

As I mentioned before, I wouldn't notice any difference in the AF since I don't have any fast lenses except the 1.8 which is horrible at focusing. -Andy-
