I recently bought a 2nd body (a 30d) to add to my XT.

Now my problem is with the CF cards. It seems to mess up the image numbering when I swap the cards between cameras.

Do those of you with multiple bodies dedicate cards to the particular body? Or how do you manage this.

I need some help. Thanks for any advice you can provide.

I don't really care, since I use my equipment until it dies. But I would imagine if you format the card, it might not mess it up.

Actually, you'll need to format the card in a computer before putting it into the camera to prevent writing the conflicting image numbering data to the other camera.

Thanks for clarifying that, Mark. I had heard the term "format" used but incorrectly assumed that it meant the camera.

Yup, it's such a problem that we just maintain a separate of cards for our 300D and 20D.

I have never formatted a card except when new. I move cards between my Drebel and 5D and have not had a problem. This is what I do:

Delete all the images from the card in the camera that shot them.
THEN move it to a different camera.

Both directories exist on the cards and the camera knows which one to use.

When I got the 2nd XT, I started using the 1gb cards in one, the 2gb cards in the other- easier than anything else i could think of, just check which card is in the camera i take out that day. Now, if only i were better about keeping things in the same place even if i come home tired.......
