Well, looks like we got a revolution in the making. With the introduction of the 50L 1.2, what happens to the Holy Trinity now? What is the new Holy Trinity..... who gets the boot? Or can there no longer be a Holy Trinity, but maybe we should start calling them the "Fantastic Four"?

i hope it's trully as holy (or unholy) as any L ever can be... wonder when we will see the first reviews...
on a slightly different note, is that 1599 list price msrp? places like BH dont sell lens at MSRP do they? I mean, the 35L list price is 1899 and it's 1130 or so everywhere... would that mean we can expect the street price on the 50L would be closer to 1200?

Lenses like these, which are unique to a certain brand, tend to be sold around the msrp.

Sad to inform you :-(

 Nice spot cowboy. Yup ... those Trinity guys will be having sleepless nights wondering if they can afford to keep up. But I guess that .2 of a stop over the 1.4 really will be worth it for them ;) Definately another vanity lens for those with more money than sense.

Actually, f/1.2 is about half a stop faster than f/1.4
I disagree about it being a vanity lens, it would be very practical for those who shoot in low light, half a stop makes a lot of difference sometimes. Then there's the bokeh, the L build, the focus, etc... It's a lens that many have been hoping for for a long time.

It becomes the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, the end of days for your wallet and the loss of sanity for anyone who buys them.

Someone tell the newbie what The Holy Trinity is please?

Anyone responding with "The Father, The Son & The Holy Ghost" can feel free to imagine me making the Marge Simpson "Hmmm" noise. ;)

Well, the canon holy trinity stays the same 35 1.4, 85 1.2, 135 2.0, you add the 50 1.0 or 50 1.2 and you get the four horsemen, then you add the 200 1.8 and get the five elements.

See easy :)

Now you just have to go out and shoot them, however I am with halfmoonray, pantheons are more fun.

All the best
