Not sure where to post this question, but this seems like a good place to start.

Um, I can't seem to figure out how to get the pics from the card reader, I attached the reader tried saving with Iphoto and tried DPP but I'm not sure what I'm missing:confused:

Please help a PC girl find her way in the MAC world:)

TIA

Cassandra

What camera do you have? If you tell us what camera, we can give you the specifics.

Generally speaking, the process is as follows: Leave the card in the camera. Connect your camera to the mac - this is usually a mini-USB cable, but some cameras have firewire. If your camera has a 'view' mode (vs. shoot mode), then put it in that mode and turn the camera on. The mac should default to iPhoto if it sees the camera. From there you'll be presented with an import window for iPhoto. Click to import, but choose NOT to delete the images on import for this first try (in case something goes wrong).

"Raw" is not an acronym, abbreviation, nor a proper noun; thus, it should not be in capital letters.

Thanks Tony-S, I have the 20d (check the sig).

So you suggest I use the camera to download and not the card reader, ok, then I'll try that, thanks again!

I haven't donwloaded from the camera in a long time because everyone suggest using a card reader, but I'll try it from the camera when I get home;)

You can still use the card reader, iPhoto should detect it automatically. If not on the menu bar under File you can choose 'Add to Library' and them browse to the card, select the images and add them that way.

You can also use the OS via the drag and drop method. Create a new folder on you desk top, open the card that should also be mounted to the desk top and drag the images form the card to the new folder.

I use the card reader and as soon as I plug it into the usb port, put the card into the reader, iphoto (or aperture) comes up and asks me if I want to download. I've never had it not come up. I don't usually put the card into the reader though until after it's plugged in to the computer. If this doesn't work, click on iphoto, click on file, click on import to library, highlight the card reader and click okay.

Ok I'll try this stuff when I get home.

AK Rover & Peregrin , I thought it would work that way, but iphoto doesn't come up automatically, but I see the reader, I tried to drag and drop to a folder I made in Iphoto, but it didn't work either.

I WILL work this out today!!

Thanks to everyone!

Make sure your mac is set up to automatically launch iPhoto when it detects a camera. This is done with 'Image Capture' that is found in your Applications folder.

or, you can set up image capture to load the photos into a folder if you do not wish to use iphoto, just follow the directions after opening image capture.
