i got the idea from this place, and gave it a go last night, i took my camera and kit lens, and just held the lens on the wrong way, set focus to infinity, and focused by distance and WOW.

anyone else had any luck with this? anyone mannaged to jerry-rig a mount to hold the lens on the wrong way?

which way should i be focusing toward minimum or infinity?

oh yeah, i also tried my sigma 10-20, 10mm was amazing :|

Ive looked on ebay and found "macro adapters" - something that screws into the filter threads and clicks into the camera - i was about to get one - 99p, who can complain - but postage was 6 pounds - over ten dollars for a 1 dollar item O_O

Merely reversing today's lenses (lenses with autoexposure capability but no manual aperture control) does not work very well compared to using lenses that have aperture control rings.

I used to reverse lenses - usually my 50mm and 28mm lenses - on my Nikon F's with an adapter ring, and got some superb results even without extension tubes. I did use extension tubes at times. The only problem then was calculating the exposure settings. Of course, the Nikons are film cameras. With a DSLR, you could use trial-and-error fairly easily.

The lens to lens adapter is simply a metal ring with threads on either side that will fit to your lens. I got all of mine off of ebay..... searched for canon reverse ring.... there's usually at least one seller with reasonable shipping, it just takes some watching. I find I like the tubes best as I get a little more room to move with my DOF. The lens to lens thing makes it soooooo shallow. Have to do a lot of image stacking. Not to mention that I get paranoid having that end of my lens exposed to so much dust..LOL
