Ooooo thats nice :D

A couple of questions:

If you have a sturdy tripod, does mirror lock up make a significant difference?

Where would you set you focus point for a shot like that?

Mirror lock -up, yes, it possibly would, the 'mirror-slap' could cause slight vibration to long exposures, regardless of sturdiness of tripod, although I think you would be hard pushed to notice, it's mainly force of habit with me.

I tend to use wide apertures (f22, f18 etc) so the DOF is wide, but would focus probably around 2/3 rds down the pier to ensure everything was in focus.

Hope this helps :)

Another stunner Les, the colours are incredible.

You need to tell me how you go about choosing your shutter speeds, do you take one or two at different exposure levels and keep whats best or do you have a more technical theory ?

Those 15 sec have produced some stunning blue colour Les which in combo with the soft yellow of the lights create a beautyfull picture.

Very cool picture, Les. The only thing I'd want to see different in this is a more active sky.

Man, what remarkable colors! I also really like the line of the pier into the distance. Great shot!
