Had my camera in my lap when I saw this girl. I snapped three quick pictures of her with my 70-300DO. After I put my camera down, her male companion held his hand up to me in a "stop" fashion, but I had already stopped so I just basically ignored him.

Is the woman a pubic figure? I don't keep up with them. I was just wondering if he was treating you like a paparazzi or just protecting his mate.

I'd say it's captured at one really wierd moment, given the expression on her face. Well, at least she wasn't blinking. I always manage to do that.

Now I'm curious, Mr. "not really Dr. Jack", had he told you to stop while you were still shooting, what would you have done?

I probably would have stopped, as he did "ask" nicely and my wife was a few lounge chairs away and I wouldn't have wanted to create a scene.

As far as her (or him) being a public figure, that crossed my mind also because of the way he "stopped" me. I don't have celebrity recognition, though, so I wouldn't know.

As to it being a "really wierd moment," it's one of three that I got and the only one that shows at least her profile. I'll try to post the other two, but my photo sharing site has been givng me trouble.

Well, it's either pbase or my internet connection, but it is taking me forever to upload and then view my pictures there.

Here's another of her/him.

Your lucky asking you to stop was all he did, most when faced with an "unknown" person snapping photo's of their partner would do more, some a lot more!!

Well, I guess I am lucky, as I've been taking candids in many different and varied places for a long time now and have never run into someone who "would do more."

Not wanting to brag or anything, but I'll just hit them over the head with the blunt end of the 1 series which is powerful enough to stop a charging rhino, so I've heard.

So you don't think people are likely to get upset by a complete stranger taking their picture? and if they do, what, you just don't care?

I don't know, Doc. Let's see, it's my hobby. I always have my camera with me. I enjoy looking at and taking pictures of pretty girls. I usually try to show the results on the LCD to the person whose picture I just took and often strike up a conversation with them resulting in them posing and smiling for me, after which I email it to them. They enjoy receiving it; I enjoy giving the pictures away.

Sometimes, it leads to someone wanting to model and build a portfolio which helps me out also.

So, What's up, Doc? Have I sufficiently answered your query?
:) ;)
