Took this a couple of weeks ago and have been unable to ID it, it has been suggestedit may be a male (pale form) Carder bee but nothing i have seen so far matches it.

Can anyone help ? as i am new to all this macro stuff any C & C will be welcomed.

Canon 350D / Sigma 105mm F 2.8 DG macro.

Looks like a carpenter bee to me. Then again, I'm not too good on Ids. Nice shot though. The purple flower looks really nice with the black and white of the bee.

I was thinking the (Midget) Mining Bee ~12mm Long, subgenus Micrandrena

Thanks for the replies everyone, i will google up some pics to see if i can get a match.
All are new names to me, but that photo of a mining bee looks a possibility.
