My misfortune to post just after a whole bunch of stunning night shots have been put up...

Anyway, these are what we took on Sunday night, down near the Auckland harbour bridge...

Let me know what you think I did right, and what I did wrong.

Hi!

Right: low noise levels, clean and sharp pictures, good framing in the last one,
love the water reflections

What I don't like(there is no wrong:)): the first 2 are technically correct but lack appeal, the second in particular is the least interesting because it has a big area of black and I'm nit very crazy either about it's composition.

The third is the best in my opinion.

agreed, can't decide if I'd have taken two steps to the left or not... :)

I like the third one, it's different from typicaly night shots you see of Auckland - good work! The first seems a bit soft,

Thanks for the feedback guys, I appreciate it :)

Sue - I agree, the composition in the first two is not particularly appealing, I guess my only excuse is that it was late at night, in a strange, dark place. The 2nd one in particular didn't quite come out how I was hoping.

The first one is soft, which is unfortunate, because it is the sharpest one I managed to get from that particular spot. I might have forgotten to apply sharpening in pp tho, come to think of it.

No shots of the marina, sorry :(

Far out.. Hoodlums!

We should catch up, with a few of the Northies, including Kirst and forsaken for a spot of photography. I've had enough of drifting events recently.

Nice shots btw, 3rd one is very unique.

It's a good location to shoot from too. About the only place I got good shots on the shore. Can't get up early enough for a sunrise on East beaches

Some real nice work here. The 1st may be a tad soft but how can you not take it. Great light exposed well. The 2nd is weak compositionally but it is a night shot and light at night always has an appeal. The 3rd for sure has a unique framing to it but no tourist comes home with just this shot and not the 1st. I like the 4th as well. The lights and lines do a good job taking you into the picture.

-kk- sounds like a pretty exciting, if bloody tiring lifestyle. I guess doing a bit of clicking would be a good stress relief?

Wazza - I'm keen for a catchup, agree with you about the early morning thing - my brain doesn't function before 9 anyway.

Thanks Anthony and Ron, I appreciate the feedback :) thanks for taking the time to look and respond.
