Does the new Tamron SP AF17-50 f/2.8 DiII VC have it's own thread or is it part of this one?

:)

How cute!! ^^
And this is the 50D in combo with the Tamron? I've got the Tamron, but not yet the 50D, this makes the decision process I'm in at the moment a lot easier! :D

There is a separate thread for that.

I'm a huge fan of this lens, value for money is fantastic.

Here is a collection of images all caught with the Tamron 17-50, this thread helped me decide to go with the Tamron so I hope some of them assist people in making their decision.

Craggles123: I must say, those are absolutely stunning photos. The colors are so vivid, I'm honestly unsure how you got them. Nonetheless, those are very nice and reinforced my notion to buy this lens next. I just ordered the 50mm f/1.4, but this is my next general-purpose lens.

I was really disappointed in this lens when I had my 50D, now that I tried it on my new 7D I am AMAZED at the quality that this lens produces!

This was shot at 1/60, f/4 ISO 400 with my 7D @ 41mm:

Nothing too special, but then I did a 100% crop!

@geoff5093: So I shouldn't expect much from this lens on my Rebel XSi?

I can't wait to get my hands on the 7D...

I can't imagine it would make any difference whatsoever with either camera body. Maybe the 7D has better image processing than the 50D? I used this lens on an old Rebel XT and it produced amazing images. Then I upgraded to a 40D and it still produced amazing images, and I continue to use it as my primary walkaround lens to this day.

I have the 50D and couldn't be happier with this lens. I also have an XTi and think this lens is phenomenal. Just my 2 cents. :D

I don't think it was an issue with the bodies in general, just that MY 50D didn't perform well with this lens. I tried micro-adjusting the lens but never found a setting that worked well across the FL.

I still have both cameras, so I may set up some sort of test to see the difference.
